University of Nottingham film students produce video content for Creative Quarter and Sneinton Market websites

Film students from the University of Nottingham recently produced new video content for the Creative Quarter and Sneinton Market websites.

The Creative Quarter required support with creating video content for its website and a student placement was an ideal opportunity to help with this. Students from the BA Hons Film and Television Studies course at University of Nottingham were able to respond to a live brief as part of an assessed module (50 hours) in their 2nd year.

One group of 3 students – Rebecca Oakes, Eleanor O’Brien and Tutku Tuzuner - worked on creating a video for the Creative Quarter website to represent the Live, Learn, Work and Invest themes.

The other group of 2 students – Jennelli Angeles and Agnese D’Ubaldi - worked on a video for the Sneinton Market website to represent the themes of Eat & Drink, Shop, Socialise and Create themes.

The students had to respond to a brief issued by the Creative Quarter and prepare a pitch proposal to outline what their 2-minute video might cover and what it might look and feel like. The groups then started their filming over a period of around 4 weeks. The films include interviews with Creative Quarter businesses and organisations.

The students presented their draft videos to a panel comprising the CQ Marketing Manager, Director of Programmes and Operations and Neil Rostance, Partner and Head of Creative at Fat Free Media who had agreed to provide some professional support and advice. The panel suggested amendments and changes where necessary and Neil provided some helpful tips and approaches to use.

The videos were then further edited by the students, adding transition, text and effects where necessary.
