Electric Vehicle Roadshow comes to Nottingham Businesses

May 23rd 2019

An Electric Vehicle Roadshow will be touring Nottingham businesses in June and July in order to demonstrate the latest EVs and answer any questions people might have about making the transition to Ultra-Low Emission Vehicles (ULEVs).

Nottingham’s ULEV Experience project will be holding Roadshows at the following locations:

• NG2 Business Park, hosted by Geldards and East Midlands Chamber of Commerce, on Clean Air Day, Thursday 20 June – book now

• Nottingham Business Park, Wednesday 26 June – book now

• University of Nottingham Innovation Park, Tuesday 2 July – book now

• The Creative Quarter, Sneinton Market, Wednesday 10 July – book now

A range of the latest electric vehicles will be on show, with test drives available at the first three locations, and one-to-one ‘Ask the Expert’ sessions to give businesses the opportunity to find out more about the benefits of making the shift to electric vehicles – including cars, vans and larger commercial vehicles.

Ian Bates, Sector Forum and Representation Manager from the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce, encourages Nottingham businesses to drop in to the morning Roadshow events:

Businesses or public sector organisations that would like to attend these free events should book via the ULEV Experience events page.

The ULEV Experience is funded by Nottingham City Council’s Workplace Travel Service and is a programme dedicated to supporting businesses to understand, trial and implement Ultra-Low Emission Vehicles. The ULEV Experience programme offers businesses and the public sector:

  • Fully-Funded Fleet Reviews – providing an independent assessment of the potential to integrate ultra-low emission cars and vans within a company fleet
  • Low Emission Vehicle Loans – enabling companies to undertake a month-long trial of electric or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles
  • Business Engagement and Events – enabling companies to network with peers and gain additional understanding of the benefits of running ULEVs

The ULEV Experience project can help organisations save money on running company vehicles and lower company CO2 emissions, as well as improving air quality (NOx) emissions in Nottingham.

Many local companies are already making the switch to ULEVs and are beginning to enjoy the financial benefits. To date the ULEV Experience programme has identified that 452 ULEVs could potentially be adopted within Nottingham businesses, saving a combined total of £171,344 per year in running costs and 896 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Further business support is also available in the form of a Workplace Travel Service grant of up to £25,000 to support sustainable transport initiatives including workplace charging infrastructure.

Nottingham’s ULEV Experience has launched a Guide to Ultra-Low Emission Vehicles (ULEVs) which provides answers to common questions asked by businesses looking to make the change to electric cars and vans. The Guide provides details about the range of different ULEV technologies, vehicle charging options, available grant funding and tax benefits. The Guide can be downloaded, free of charge, from the home page at

An ultra-low emission vehicle is a car or van that emits 75g/km CO2 or less and includes pure electric vehicles, range-extended electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). The latest electric vehicles include models with driving ranges of up to 300 miles or more.
